A legacy of giving

The Penny’s Purpose was founded in 2019 by April Soulak Andrews, an Antioch Community High School Class of 1990 graduate, in loving memory of her mother, Penny Soulak. Penny cared deeply about helping people, caring for pets, and spreading warmth through blankets. The organization collects new, handmade, and gently used blankets and donates them to local organizations throughout Illinois and Wisconsin.

Penny gave back even when her resources were limited. She was a dedicated PADS volunteer through her church and participated in other philanthropic efforts. The scholarship honors her generosity, belief in the importance of education, and desire to make the world a better place.

“Learn to give, even when blessed with less.”

Student service

The Penny’s Purpose launched its student service-hour program in 2020. Students can participate by making No-Sew Fleece blankets or volunteering with the organization. These hours help students meet requirements for NHS, Cum Laude, and other service-based programs.
