How to Make a Blanket

What You’ll Need
- Two pieces of fleece — 2 yards each
- Sharp scissors
- Ruler and straightedge
- A large work area
- About 2 hours
Choose a pattern and coordinating color, two solid colors, or a kit with fabric already cut to size.
Make Your Blanket
- Find the good side. The good side faces outward on the finished blanket. Look for the clearer, less faded pattern.
- Layer and align. Stack the fleece with the good sides facing outward and the wrong sides together. Align both layers. Trim white edges and uneven cuts so both pieces are the same size. Pin the layers together if desired.
- Cut the fleece. Cut a 5 × 5-inch square from each corner through both layers. Along all four sides, cut fringe 5 inches long and 1 inch wide, cutting through both layers each time.
- Tie the blanket. Hold each matching pair of fringe strips together. Make a loop and pull the ends through to tie a knot at the base. Keep knots snug. Repeat around the blanket and remove all pins.
